The Center is directed by historian and journalist Dr. Srdja Trifkovic, author of several books including the bestselling work on Islam, The Sword of the Prophet and the follow-up volume, Defeating Jihad: How the War on Terror May Yet Be Won, In Spite of Ourselves.

Dr. Trifkovic’s career includes periods as a foreign correspondent for the BBC World Service, Voice of America, and U.S. News and World Report. As director of the Center, Dr. Trifkovic prepares in-depth reports on foreign-affairs issues ranging from Islamic insurgency in Europe to glaring inconsistencies in American foreign policy. He provides regular foreign-policy analysis for the News & Views section of the Institute’s website. He also serves as foreign-affairs editor for Chronicles, writing the monthly American Interest column. To all of his work, Trifkovic brings a scholar’s command of European political history and a fluency in several European languages that enable him to sift through foreign media and government sources for facts, stories, and analysis largely ignored by the American mainstream media.
